High Priest Aldric
Greeting
"Welcome to the temple of the first landing, child. The first settlers knelt on this stone with nothing but their hands and their faith. Some still choose to walk that road alone -- the Ironsworn. Are you one of them?"
Dialogue Topics
seal
The record stands: the ward-stone cracked beyond healing, and the town chose to bind the leak into the monument. The seal holds -- at a price we pay in vigilance. The cellar keeps whispering, child.
seal
The record stands: the ward-stone was restored in the First Tide rite. The monument gleams as it did when the first settlers knelt here. We are fortunate.
ironsworn
The Ironsworn Vow is the old prayer of the first settlers: 'I am my own forge, my own field, my own armory.' Swear it, and the temple blesses you with fortune -- but you will never again trade, market, or mail with other souls. You will walk alone.
vow
The vow cannot be unsworn. Self-sufficiency is not a hardship here -- it is a sacrament. The temple will see you rewarded in the hunt, in the drop, in the coin. But the markets of men will be closed to you forever.
first_settlers
When the first settlers came to Dawnport Reef they had no trade routes, no allies, no markets. They survived by their own hands alone. The Ironsworn re-enact that primal self-reliance -- and the temple remembers.
temple
This shrine stood before the first stone house. Tomas keeps the inn across the square -- a good man, and a worried one. The rats that flee the deep caves have been fleeing something for a long time now.
aldric
There is a Father Aldric in Thornhaven -- a cousin of the cloth, and a good priest. Travelers confuse us. He tends the Crown's faithful; I tend the memory of those who landed here with nothing.
The Prophecy
The temple records call it the Last Promise: nine verses, scattered when the seals were sworn. The first question of the age to come is whether it was a prediction -- or an instruction.
history
Founded in the Third Age as a waystation for new arrivals to the continent. The temple was built first, serving as church, shelter, and communal hall.
