History of Aetheria
The timeline of the world — from the shaping of creation to the present age of awakening.
The First Age — The Shaping
- The gods shape the world from the Void. The Corruptor is the remnant of the Void that resisted creation.
- The Celestial Citadel is built as the gods' throne. The celestials are created as their servants.
- The Drowned King rules the first mortal civilization in the desert where Dunespire now stands. He fights the Corruptor's earliest manifestations and seals them beneath the sands with the Seal of Binding.
- The Sunken Empire is founded as a mortal civilization that retreats beneath the waves.
The Second Age — The Celestial War
- Azrakael rebels, attempting to seize the power of creation. He is cast out and becomes the Fallen One.
- The Fallen One corrupts a third of the celestials into fallen angels.
- The Celestial Citadel is sealed away from the mortal world to protect it.
- The Dragon Council — three elder dragons who remained neutral — helps seal the Dragon Lord Pyraxis, a servant of the Fallen One, in the volcanic caverns beneath what is now Ashenmoor.
- The Tidecaller, a mortal shaman-king, sacrifices himself to bind Battlemaster Zunzu (the Forgotten Reaper) beneath his tomb in the jungle where Tidecaller's Reach now stands.
- The elves of Silverwood preserve the records of the Celestial War in their songstones.
The Third Age — The Kingdoms
- Mortal kingdoms rise: Thornhaven (the Old City), Ironhold (the mining stronghold), Saltport and Port Tidesong (the coastal cities).
- Glacier Bay is founded by explorers who discover the ice shelf and its ancient ward — placed over a Yeti sealed since the First Age.
- Frosthold becomes the northern bastion, guarding against the ice creatures. The Altar of Ascension in its temple is the gateway to the Celestial Citadel.
- Mistral is founded by settlers who come to harvest the swamp's rare herbs.
- Dunespire is founded around the only fresh water for a hundred miles, above the Drowned King's ancient tomb.
- Tidecaller's Reach is built around the Tidecaller's tomb in the jungle.
- Ashenmoor is founded as a demon-hunting outpost on the volcano's slopes.
The Fourth Age — The Awakening (Present)
- The Corruptor stirs. Its influence seeps through failing wards across the continent: the Drowned King's seal cracks, the Glacier Bay ward weakens, the Tidecaller's binding frays, the Silverwood wardstones are sabotaged.
- A pirate syndicate begins trafficking corrupted artifacts from the ancient sites, spreading the corruption to new regions.
- The player arrives at Dawnport Reef as the corruption begins to spread.
- The main story follows the player's journey to trace the corruption to its source and ultimately confront the Corruptor, with the final battle in the Celestial Citadel.
The Endgame Timeline
- The Fallen One is defeated in the abyssal rift below the Celestial Citadel, severing the Corruptor's celestial bridge.
- The Leviathan is slain in the trench beneath the Sunken Empire.
- The Corruptor's avatar (Morgaroth) manifests in the Celestial Citadel.
- Using the Seal of Binding, the Tidecaller's Amulet, and the strength gained across the continent, the player destroys the Corruptor's avatar.
- The player is named World Savior and visits all 11 cities to share the news.
