Greeting

"Steel and sand, that is our way. I train guardians to hold the line against the desert's dangers."

Dialogue Topics

Town

A desert town built around the only fresh water for a hundred miles. The Drowned King's tomb lies beneath the oasis -- older than the town, older than the desert itself.

Threat

The Drowned King's seal is cracking. The Sandstone Scorpion burrowed up through the weakened seal. Mummies carry Void Relics from the tomb -- fragments of broken seals, tainted with ancient corruption.

Government

Sage Kaelen is the scholar-ruler. The Oasis Keeper manages the town's most precious resource -- water. In the desert, water is power, and Sage Kaelen controls the water.

Market

Caravans are the lifeblood of Dunespire. Spices, silks, and ancient relics from the Drowned King's tomb. The Seal of Binding from the tomb can bind the Corruptor's avatar -- or so the legends say.

Corruption

The Drowned King fought the Corruptor's earliest manifestations in the First Age. He sealed them with the Seal of Binding. Now the seal is cracking, and what he sealed is seeping through. The mummies aren't attacking -- they're fleeing.

Faction

The Dune Sentinels -- scholarship, the old seals, and the Drowned King's legacy. We guard the past so the future can learn from it.

The Dune Sentinel's Vow

I took a vow when I joined the Sentinels -- to guard the Drowned King's tomb with my life. The seal is cracking. I can feel it in the sand -- the vibrations from below. The Sandstone Scorpion already broke through. Sage Kaelen says the Void Relics in the tomb are resonating with something -- something far away, something deep. I need someone to go into the tomb and check the seal. If it breaks, what the Drowned King sealed in the First Age will be free. And I will have broken my vow.

Sand Stalkers

The sand stalkers are new -- they appeared when the Drowned King's seal first cracked. They're desert predators, but the corruption has made them bolder. They hunt in packs now, near the oasis. Sage Kaelen says they're drawn to the seal's energy, feeding on the leaking power like jackals on a carcass.

Ancient Constructs

The ancient constructs are remnants of the Drowned King's civilization -- stone guardians that patrolled his city millennia ago. The corruption has reactivated them, but twisted their purpose. They attack everything now, including us. Sage Kaelen is trying to understand their inscriptions. He says they were built to protect the seal. Now they serve the thing it was sealing.

Sand Horrors and Dune Wraiths

The sand horrors and dune wraiths are the Drowned King's soldiers -- or what's left of them. Undead, preserved by the desert's dry air and the corruption's dark energy. They guard the deeper tombs, attacking any who approach. The Drowned King's seal is cracking, and his army is waking up. One piece at a time.

The Tomb Sentinel

The tomb sentinel is the Drowned King's personal guard -- a massive undead warrior that stands before the inner chamber. It has stood there for thousands of years, and the corruption has only made it stronger. Sage Kaelen says the sentinel is the last line of defense. If it falls, the seal is exposed. And whatever is beneath the seal... it's waiting.

The Mummy Lord

Deep in the Drowned King's tomb, the mummy lord stirs. It was the King's vizier -- the one who helped him create the Seal of Binding. The corruption has twisted his loyalty. Now he serves the thing the seal was meant to contain. The irony would be poetic if it weren't so deadly. Sage Kaelen says the mummy lord carries Void Relics -- fragments of the broken seal. Recover them, and we might be able to repair it.

drowned king

Mordreth. Say the name -- the tomb likes it spoken. He sealed the first darkness by spending his kingdom like coin. The desert is the receipt. The city above is the ward.
